There’s something so wonderful about an outdoor summer wedding - when the weather is perfect, the wine chilled, fairy lights are strung high and the dance floor is heaving. These are the weddings us photographers do love to be at. They’re the kind of wedding where I wish I was a guest. They’re relaxed, yet sophisticated, beautiful and a hell of a party.

Last December, Felicity + Sam chose the Butter Factory in Euroa (about 2 hours out of Melbourne) as their venue, and boy, if you haven’t been there, you need to check it out. It’s rustic, it’s rural, it’s awesome and couldn’t have been a better spot for all the festivities. They turned what could have been a one day affair into whole weekend wedding festival with lunches, brunches, dinners and catch ups with all of their wedding guests.

With the talented teams from Georgeous + Prunella teaming up, the main courtyard of the Butter Factory was transformed into a Tuscan al fresco dream, complete with long tables, cascading flowers, a cocktail bar and a smattering of outdoor games for a bit of fun. This was the perfect summer wedding.

Rebecca + Chris’s wedding at Stones of the Yarra Valley was my last shoot for 2014. It had been a huge year for Sarah and I and I just knew in my waters that this one was going to be a goodie. And when Rebecca told me it was also the Summer Solstice - the longest day of the year - I made sure I ate my weetbix that morning because I knew I was in for nothing short of an epic day.

Despite living a world away in New York, Rebecca + Chris (and their friends from Dot Dot Dash) were able to coordinate and seamlessly pull off what I could only call a Summer Party Wedding Feista. Yep, all capitals! Cocktail carts, liqueur icy poles, mountains of flowers and glitter cannons.

What more could you need?

I would shoot this wedding over and over if I could. Perfect from start to end.

I first met Tim + Dani about a year ago. They had booked me to photograph their wedding, but first they wanted to do a couples shoot as they insisted that they weren’t great in front of the camera and needed some practice, which turned out to be absolute rubbish. They were divine. Sweet, genuine and in the moment. They took me down to the beach in Anglesea where they would go on to have their gorgeous wedding ceremony 10 months later. They told me stories of their eleven year relationship, of the jobs they had, places they had been and stories from their past. I had joked about getting walkie talkies on the wedding day to make driving around from location to location a little more exciting, and lo and behold on the day of their wedding, Tim presented me with two walkie talkies. After making me a cup of coffee and asking me about my morning.

I could have photographed these two wonderful souls over and over. But for now, perhaps twice is enough.

What a year it has been!

To New York, Santorini, interstate, by the beach and into the mountains we travelled. Shooting in the rain, the snow and sunshine.

We would just love to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of our couples for choosing us to be a part of your weddings, your engagements and allowing us to tell your story. We have truly loved every minute of it.
